I have mentioned Makeup Geek products in a few of my recent posts so I want to go into more detail here. Makeup Geek is a website run by Marlena, you can find tutorials, tips, and reviews on the site, but there is also a shop. The shop is my obsession. Head over to the website at https://www.makeupgeek.com/. The Makeup Geek products are so inexpensive I was dying to try them, but because they are based in America, shipping, post, and tax were all really expensive for delivering to Ireland. So last year I decided to take advantage of the Black Friday sales that happen in the States the day after Thanksgiving. The sales offered by Makeup Geek were amazing which meant I could buy twice as many products and still afford the shipping etc, it was fantastic. I bought three eyeshadow pans, two blusher pans, and an empty palette to store them in. I have fallen in love with these shadows, they are amazing. They are such great quality, they apply beautifully with amazing pigmentation, they blend seamlessly, and they are extremely long wearing. I can’t fault them. The same is true of the two blushers. Because I loved these products so much I decided I needed more and couldn’t wait until the next Black Friday! I went online and bought two more shadow pans and a brush. Again, I’m in love! I have created a look using all of my Makeup Geek eyeshadows. In the photos below I am also wearing a makeup Geek blusher, I hope you like it! xx
As you can see from the picture of my Makeup Geek palette, I am weak for warm wines and purples. The look I have created is a gorgeous soft smokey wine with an intense sparkle. The two transition shades I used are Peach Smoothie and Barcelona Beach. I started with Peach Smoothie and went really high in the crease area, I then went over that with Barcelona Beach keeping it a tad lower. Next I applied Last Dance all over the lid. This is one of my newer purchases and it has fast become my go to. I wear it on its own all over my lid on most days. It’s such a pretty purple colour and it is so easy to wear because it is not too deep. There is also a very subtle sparkle in this shadow which picks up the light beautifully. After this I deepened out the outer corner of my crease to create dimension. For this I used Bitten, this is a lovely, light matte shade. Have a look at the photos which label each eye shadow colour. It’s really important to keep blending all these shadows. Blending is really easy with these eyeshadows because they are such good quality. Next I applied my other newest shade, Showtime. This is from the new Foiled range. I love it. It s an intensely glittery shadow with loads of texture and dimension. What I love about this shadow is that there is no fall off from your brush, it locks onto your skin and doesn’t budge. I applied it to my lid keeping it below my crease. To blend it out I took a small amount of Last Dance on a blender brush and softened out the crease area again. I then used a black kohl pencil to darken my lashline without going too intense. And I finished with black mascara. For my lower lashline I built up all of these shadows again because I wanted it very deep. I mixed Peach Smoothie and Barcelona Beach to smoke it out. I deepened the lash line using both Last Dance and Bitten and finished by applying Showtime to the outer corners.
I love this look, it will suit all eye colours and it is an easy way to wear a smokey eye because it is so soft. I can’t recommend Makeup Geek highly enough. The price of shipping and taxes is off putting, you will also be waiting quite a long time for delivery, mine took 22 days which was very frustrating, (blame Irish customs) and be warned it can take up to 31 days for delivery. This can’t be avoided, but to overcome the “extra” costs my advice is to convince a few friends that they also need Makeup Geek products, and then split the cost of shipping etc! It’s all about thinking outside the box! xx
