A Pop of Colour

We all love our neutral colours when it comes to eye makeup; they are just so easy to wear. Every now and then though, we need a pop of bright colour for some fun. I love playing with different colours and incorporating them into makeup looks. A lot of people shy away from wearing bold colours, but I am here to say colour is in. This Spring will see a lot of colour being used on the eyes, and eyeliner is making a huge comeback if New York Fashion Week is anything to go by (which it is!). So I have combined these two styles into one look. A colourful liner is an easy and subtle way to bring colour into your makeup if you are apprehensive about breaking away from the neutrals! I hope you like this look, xx

When you are using a bright colour on your eyes you need to make sure you have primed your lids so that the colour stays in place. I have used the Urban Decay Primer Potion for years and can’t fault it. After priming I deepened my crease using MAC Soft Brown, this just creates some dimension. I added a bright white powder shadow to my lid below the crease to make the contrast more pronounced. I then took my bright colour, in this case Savage from the Urban Decay Electric Palette. This is the craziest pink ever, it’s amazing! I used an eyeliner brush to create a thick line along my upper lash line. We will be adding a black gel liner over this so make it nice and thick. I decided not to add a feline flick, instead I ended the line where my lashes end, although a flick would be really pretty with this style.I then used the same brush and applied a black gel liner along my lash line following the pink line. You want to make sure the colour is making a statement, the black liner is simply there to fill out the lashes and make the colour pop.

A strong brow and lashes are really important to this look. Fill out your brows and add lashings of black mascara for bold, dark lashes. As I didn’t apply any shadow or liner to the lower lash line it is important to apply mascara to the lower lashes for definition.

A colour this bright shouldn’t compete with your blusher. I used a soft pink on my cheeks which compliments the pink shadow nicely. For the lips some people may want to keep them nude and let the eyes take all the attention, but I wanted lots of colour so I applied a very bold pink lipstick. This brings balance to the face.

And that’s all you really need to do if you want some colour. If you are the kind of person who loves lots of colour this look may be a bit timid for you, however this is a really fun look that incorporates a very bright colour without overwhelming the eye area.
