It’s December, yay! We can officially start celebrating Christmas! And so begins the Christmas party season, which means I can now go as crazy with the glitter as I want and blame it on being festive (rather than just admitting I LOVE glitter!) I’m going to do a few posts over the next few days that incorporate glitter. These are going to be bold looks that will be perfect for Christmas parties and celebrations! I hope you like them, and I hope you give them a try! xx
I’ll start with a tame glitter look today. This is a fun look that will be ideal for office parties when you want to be a little creative, without going overboard.
As always start with a prepped and primed base. Eyes definitely need a primer when you’re using glitter. Then apply your transition shade to the upper crease area, I used MAC Soft Brown. Then, using a deep gold/bronze colour, sculpt out the crease. Pick your shade based on how deep you want the crease to be. I chose MAC Satin Taupe which is a light brown colour with a bronze shimmer in it. I applied this from outer corner to inner corner in the crease. I then took a Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Vintage Selection, this is a creamy gold pigment, and applied it to my lid, below the crease. I then lined my upper lashline with a black gel liner. Create a thick line for this look, and to glam it up, give it a good outer corner flick too. Next step is the fun step! I love MAC pigment pots, they are gorgeous, but they can be tricky to use and messy until you get the hang of them. I used MAC’s Heirloom Mix Glitter in Gold. It’s like the pigment pots but extremely glittery! I used a flat eyeliner brush, wet it, and applied the glitter over the black liner. You can go as intense as you want, I kept it calm because I like the black gel to create a good background for the gold.
Moving on, hopefully the glitter won’t have gone all over the place, if it does, don’t panic. Use a cotton bud and some moisturizer or eye cream to remove the fall off from under the eyes. I then applied my concealer under my eyes and applied my foundation. I avoided using a highlighter because I didn’t want too much happening on my face. I set everything with powder. I used my new NARS bronzer and Ita brush to sculpt my face. I then applied my blusher, MAC’s Dainty. I chose this pretty pink because it has a subtle shimmer in it which will compliment the glitter on my eyes.
Going back to the eyes I sculpted my brows and applied the transition shade to my lower lash line. I also applied Satin Taupe to the lower lash line and blended it out. I lined my water line with a kohl pencil. Finally I applied the glitter to my lower lash line before I applied a black mascara. Don’t forget a setting spray, this will help keep the glitter in place.
Keep your lips neutral. I’m wearing Stila’s cocquette which is a subtle rosy colour. Let the glitter be the main focus.
I love this look because the glitter is so subtle but it looks stunning when the light hits it. As I said, it is a fun look but it is also very elegant. Hope you like it, xx
