Naked 3 Take 4: Look of The Week – Deep Dark Blackheart

Last, but by no means least, we have one of the smokiest looks I like to create. The eye shadows in Naked 3 are incredibly pigmented so a smokey look using any of the colours is going to be intense. I used Blackheart, because let’s face it, go big or go home! Be brave and give this one a go, you won’t regret it! I am also choosing to make this this week’s Look of The Week so I will go into more detail than the previous Naked 3 posts. xx

As always prime your skin before starting. Prime the lids too, I used an eyeshadow primer and applied my concealer to the lids. Then begin by applying Limit to the crease area, I am quite heavy-handed for this step; Blackheart is such a dark colour you need a strong transition shade so that it blends well and there are no harsh lines. Then go over Limit with Buzz for added dimension in the crease area. Next take Blackheart, don’t forget to tap off the excess from the brush before you start applying it. Apply Blackheart all over the lid, from inner corner to outer corner and work it high up into the crease. I kept the outer corners relatively rounded but you can go ahead and create a flick either. Then, using a large fluffy brush, take Buzz and blend out the crease area. This will fade out the highest point of Blackheart. I then like to wet an eyeshadow brush and reapply Blackeart but keeping it low in the socket. Wetting the brush will make sure the colour and intensity of the shadow really pops, keeping it low means that it will blend well and fade out as it goes from lash line to brow bone. Speaking of which, when doing an intense smokey eye I like to highlight the brow bone, apply Strange just below your eyebrow. This opens up the eye area and makes it look brighter which balances out the dark tones of Blackheart. I always skip eyeliner because this look is bold enough without it.

This is a messy process so make sure your eyes are 100% complete before applying foundation and concealer under the eye. When you are happy with the upper lid clean up the fall off from the under eye area. Using a cotton bud with some moisturiser or eye cream on it helps you carve out the outer corners so you can create a perfect flick with minimal effort. When I had this done I applied my concealer to the under eye area and then I went ahead and did my foundation. I set both of these with powders and then applied my blusher and highlighter.

Now you can go back and sweep a combination of Limit and Buzz along the lower lid and then work Blackheart into the lash line, but don’t forget to blend it out to achieve that flawless smokey look. Smokey eyes look great when paired with false lashes, alternatively just add several coats of black mascara. Finally fill in those brows and you’re good to go!

The four looks I chose from Naked 3 are some of my favourites. With two day-wear looks and two night-wear looks I hope I have covered every possible event! Doll them up or tone them down to suit the occasion. I sometimes like to add pops of colour to these looks. If you want to utilise some other shadows alongside Naked 3 add a blue lower lash liner to Bronze Goddess, or pair a plum liner with Pink Lady. There are literally endless possibilities! This palette is well worth the investment, treat yourself and enjoy it!

It’s really hard to pick up all the colours in these photos. There is a lot more dimension and definition in real life!
