For the last few weeks I have been completely consumed with my MA thesis, and as a result Spoilt Rotten has been neglected. My thesis is done and dusted now so this blog has my full attention. Sorry for the lack of posts, I’ll make up for it, I promise!
For my long-awaited return I want to introduce you to my obsession with Tom Ford.
A few months ago I decided to have a look at the Tom Ford range. Being a luxury brand it is expensive, but my birthday was approaching and it was the perfect opportunity to have a browse. Well, browse I did, and I completely fell in love. Those of you who follow this blog know I suffer with poor skin, and full coverage-addiction when it comes to foundation. I also find it difficult to find the perfect shade foundation for my complexion because I am so pale. After a lengthy discussion with the makeup artist the Translucent foundation stick was suggested for me. I did not have a lot of experience with sticks so I was somewhat apprehensive, but wow, this stick is amazing. The colour (o1 Alabaster) is the perfect match to my own colour as is physically possible. I am super pale but this makeup just brightens up my skin without washing me out, which some of the other lightest-colour foundations do. Using my Sigma stippling brush the foundation just glides on to my skin, it spreads so easily so I use only a very small amount of it. The coverage is phenomenal. One application does me but it is the easiest product to build because it just feels weightless. The result is a beautiful, dewy, flawless finish. What more could you ask for? I use only the smallest amount of highlighter with it because of the natural dewy glow it creates on its own. I really can’t recommend this foundation highly enough. The only downside, and it is a major downside, is the price. At €72 it is on the very upper end of the price scale. The makeup artist told me I would get six months out of the stick. I’m two months in now and I can’t see it lasting six, and I don’t wear it everyday. €72 is not a reasonable amount of money to be shelling out every few months. Having said that, it’s important to remember it is a luxury brand, you do get what you pay for. Everything about this stick screams luxury. I love this foundation, but with that price tag it’s not the kind of foundation I would be putting on to pop out to the shops! I wear it when I have somewhere nice to go, when I’m getting all dolled up. It’s my “good makeup” and I won’t be wasting it. I would recommend this brand to those of you who struggle to find the right foundation and are willing to make an investment. Have a look at the photos below, I’m wearing the foundation with a setting powder over it and a blusher.
