Beauty Blender

What are beauty blenders and how do I use them? Well, I am glad you asked!

I am a big fan of beauty blenders, but I won’t be throwing out my foundation brushes any time soon! I was never very fond of makeup sponges but the beauty blender is not your average sponge.

It is important for makeup to be natural, we all want to achieve that flawless look, and we all have different methods of achieving it. I wear foundation all the time, but I wear many, many different levels of makeup; from a full face for a night out, to the most natural and simple look for those days where no one will see me! I use the beauty blender for the days I want a flawless finish with a quick application. I feel more confident with a brush in general but I like the speed, and simplicity of the beauty blender. I also like that it is pink!

To apply liquid foundation with the beauty blender, I wet the blender entirely, I then put the liquid on the back of my hand and dip the blender into it. I then stipple the product on to my face buffing as I go. Wetting the blender stops it from absorbing too much of the product. Never drag it across your skin, instead just stipple away to your heart’s content. The egg shape is brilliant because it maneuvers around those awkward areas, like the nose and lips, with ease. I also use the beauty blender to apply my under eye concealer. It is very gentle on the skin here which is really important. Always wash it out when you’re finished and let it dry naturally. As you can see from the pictures below, mine is a little worse for wear, be gentle with it and it will stay in good condition. As with all sponges though, you should change them fairly often, but remember to keep them clean and store them properly (dry).

The beauty blender creates a beautifully blended (basically what it says on the tin) flawless coverage. It is also a very fast application method. I think there should be one of these in everyone’s makeup bag, it is a very handy little tool!
