Look of The Week

This is a simple yet pretty makeup look. It is a look that I would wear for day time, but it can be glammed up a bit for going out too.

I begin as always with a prepped and primed face, and as per usual I apply primer and concealer to my eyelids to tone down any redness and to help hold the shadow in place. I then applied my transition shade, ABC Gum, to my crease area. I applied this generously because I love how it makes the lid colour blend and fade out. I then applied MAC’s Satin Taupe, one of my favorite colours, all over the lid. I pushed it up into the crease without going beyond it, and blended it out with the transition shade. I rounded off the corners instead of creating any wings. I then applied a thick liner. When I use a lot of shadows, or a lot of colour, or even when I do a strong smokey eye I tend to keep my liner simple, but when I am doing an eye as simple as this I like to go bold with my liner. Have a look at my eyeliner post for more info on this step.

I then moved onto my face. I applied my concealer to my under eye area. I then applied my foundation. For daytime looks I like to keep my foundation light and natural, so I am wearing Urban Decay’s Naked Skin foundation. I really do love this foundation, I did a review on it a while back if you want more specifics! I then applied my setting powder to my under eye area, this is really important because without it your concealer will crease and just run away. I also applied the powder to other areas that I find can get oily during the day, basically my T zone. I don’t like using too much powder with this foundation though because it is a lovely dewy finish on its own.

I am wearing MAC’s Dainty blusher, this is a lovely pale blusher which has featured in many of my recent posts. It’s a very pretty pink colour which with light application creates a very feminine look. I also applied highlighter to my cheekbones, my forehead, and down my nose. This just helps to make you look a bit fresher.

Having completed my face I go back and finish off my eyes. If you want too keep this look more daytime-friendly just go lighter than I did with the lower lash liner, I was bit heavy handed, but you don’t need to be. I applied Satin Taupe to my lower lash line and blended it out, I also applied a brown eyeliner to the waterline for more definition. Don’t forget a few coats of black mascara on your curled lashes, and on your bottom lashes. I filled in my brows using Tom Ford’s crayon in Chestnut. Have a look at my eyebrow sculpting post for this step.

On my lips I am wearing Smashbox’s Rosy Pink lipstick paired with the Pop lipgloss.

Last but not least, set the whole look with a setting spray. The Urban Decay one that I used has temperature control which helps hold your makeup in all day and stops you from over heating.

As I said this is a very simple look so it is very handy, it can be done quickly so it’s perfect for those days when you’re in a rush but still want to look all dolled up! Hope you like it, xx
