Look of the Week

This week’s Look of the Week is a little later than usual but this week has just been crazy! I have been to Killarney to see my brother, sister-in-law, and nephew, then I went to Dublin for the Horse Show on Thursday, and this weekend we’re minding my nephew. I’m exhausted! So, doing my makeup today I was only interested in doing the basics and keeping it simple. I thought I’d share this look with you because everyone has those days where we are in no mood to do our makeup but still want to look done up. I have also never done a look of the week which incorporates my glasses, so other glasses-wearers will hopefully find this beneficial. Enjoy!

When I am being lazy with my makeup application I tend to wear a bold color on my lips to draw attention away from my eyes, which I try to keep as simple as possible. When applying minimal makeup the key is to create a bright, fresh, and natural look.

As always start with a prepped and primed face, and I always prime my eyelids, even if I am not applying a lot of eye makeup. I applied concealer to my lids as well as primer, this helps to tone down any redness, something I suffer from big time when I am tired. Next, I took a very pale pink eyeshadow and applied it all over the lid. I love this pink shade on any eye colour. When wearing my glasses I always wear liner on my upper lash line, it adds definition and this is important because the glasses magnify my eyes and draw attention to them. I used Benefit’s They’re Real Push Up Liner, have a look at my review of this product, it is just fantastic, and is super simple to use on lazy days!
Next I apply mu under eye concealer. This hides any dark circles that are beginning to show. When I have applied this I move on to my foundation. I am currently trying out Tom Ford’s Translucent Foundation Stick, so stay tuned for a review of this product. I apply this with my Stigma Flat Kabuki brush. On those lazy days I keep my foundation light, I like to let my face breathe. I then set my concealer and foundation with powders. I apply these very lightly too, I try to avoid heavy applications of these products because I aim for that natural look as opposed to the flawless, made up finish. A pop of pale pink blusher on my cheeks brings a bit of life to my face.
Going back to the eyes I avoid using any liner on my lower lashes, I apply a few coats of black mascara to my top and bottom lashes. It’s important to include the lower lashes when you are not going with any liner here because it will add definition.
The next step is sculpting my brows. I think sculpted brows add dimension and definition to the face, so on lazy days they pull the whole look together. Have a look at my post on eyebrow sculpting for more info on this step.
Last but not least I finish off my lazy look with a bright lipstick. I chose Bobbi Brown’s Neon Pink for today, I like that this picks up the subtle pink on my lids and compliments my purple glasses.
