Kiko is a makeup brand that I am not overly familiar with. I discovered it through my aunt, who brought back the nail varnishes from her holidays. She alerted me to the fact that there is this lovely, inexpensive Italian makeup brand waiting to be discovered, except it’s not in Ireland. Judging from the amazing quality of the nail varnishes, I was very tempted by the makeup range. Recently my brother and his wife were traveling to Italy, so naturally I asked them to bring me back some Kiko makeup products, I was dying to try them at this stage, having heard about them from several other sources. Because I have the most wonderful brother and sister-in-law, I received fabulous products from Italy, and I have been having so much fun with them over the past week. I don’t have many photos but they will make it into several future Looks of The Week so keep an eye out for them.
My sister-in-law, Victoria, knows me too well! She picked out two gorgeous products which are pretty much what I would have picked out for myself! I am just going to give a short description of both products and tell you my opinion of them.
Firstly, the lipgloss, can I just say, I’m in love. It’s the instant volume lipgloss in shade 21. This is a brilliant pink shade which worn alone creates an amazing pop of colour, and worn over a nude lipstick creates the prettiest, softest pink colour. The volume aspect is strange, normally lip products that promise to plump and enhance tend to do so by stinging and causing slight irritation. Kiko’s lipgloss does no such thing, there is no unpleasant sensation and it does make my lips look fuller. This product also offers long-lasting moisture. Some glosses, especially the very colorful ones can be tacky and uncomfortable but Kiko’s is so easy to wear, it feels like something between a gloss and a balm. One application lasts hours, no exaggeration, and it really is very moisturizing, it’s super creamy.
The second product I received is the Colour Impact Eyeshadow palette in 02 Street Taupe Variation. These eyeshadows are simply stunning. There are six shades in the compact, and the individual pans are actually quite generous, usually in palettes you get tiny shadows (I’m looking at you Urban Decay, Nakeds). There is one matte shade and five shimmer/glitter shades. In the palette they look glittery but on the eye it just creates a beautiful shimmer. You can see the colours in the photos below but the photos honestly don’t do them justice. They apply like butter, they effortlessly blend across the lid and into any other shades you use with them. The pigmentation is also very intense, and they are long wearing.
Basically, to sum up, I can’t fault either product. The only fault I see is that there is no Kiko store in Ireland. If you don’t have brothers and sisters-in-law as generous as mine don’t fear. Kiko have a website, and they deliver to Ireland. If your order is less that €49 the postage is €7, but if you spend more than that it’s €3. The prices are one of the best things about the products, they are so reasonably priced! I foresee it being difficult to rack up €49 on the site, but let’s be honest, it’s possible! Have a look at the website — http://www.kikocosmetics.ie/ and go mad!! As well as all areas of makeup, Kiko covers skin care, brushes, lashes, and tools. I want them all!
Hi claire really enjoying the posts, that party looks like it was great fun! I saw a brand in my local pharmacy called me me me and I was wondering if you are familiar with it? Thanks Jennifer
Hi Jennifer, I’m so sorry for the delay in replying to you but I wanted to do some info gathering for you regarding Me Me Me. I am not familiar with that brand but I found out that it has been undergoing a revamp in the past few years and is now back on Irish shelves after disappearing for some time. The brand now sells itself as an affordable luxury product range. I had a look at their website http://www.mememecosmetics.co.uk/ and the products do look very nice, there is a certain Benefit vibe from them. I haven’t got my hands on any yet but Beaut.ie have reviewed some of their products and is well worth a look! http://beaut.ie/2014/mememe-cosmetics-budget-brand-with-nars-dupe-and-some-very-questionable-balls-review-pics-swatches/#.U9ZrLhtOPIU
I hope this helps, if you do buy some products I would love to know what you think of them!
Claire, xx
