This week I have been embracing what little sunshine we have had. This week’s Look of The Week is a pretty peach eye, with winged eyeliner and a very nude lip. Hope you enjoy!
Start with a prepped and primed base. As always I applied my primer potion to my eyelids and then added my concealer on top. I then used an eyeshadow base, whichever base you prefer. I used a MAC white shadow. For this look I used Smashbox’s Heat Wave eyeshadow palette. This is one of my favourite palettes, Smashbox eyeshadows are so pigmented and they wear so well, I can’t fault them. Using shade number 3, I outlined my crease. I applied a lot of this product and blended it out so that it looked really smokey. I then applied shade number 1 to my eyelid, blending it into the crease colour. Then I redefined my crease with shade number 2, for extra depth. For the next step, I used Rimmel’s gel liner in 001 Black to create a winged line on my upper lash line. Have a look at my post about eyeliner for tips on this step.
After this stage I moved onto my foundation. This time I used MAC’s Studio Fix fluid in NW10. I applied this using my Sigma Flat Kabuki brush to achieve that airbrushed effect. I then applied concealer under my eyes. I am wearing MAC’s Pro Long Wear in NC15. Next I set my foundation and under eye concealer with a powder. This step is really important – you don’t want your foundation running and you don’t want your concealer settling in any fine lines.
For this look I wanted a soft bronzed glow to my skin so I used MAC’s Skin finish which was part of the Kelly Osbourne collection. I swept this very lightly across my forehead, cheekbones, jaw line, and down my nose. This is a fabulous skin finish, it creates a very light bronzed glow and makes the skin look dewy.
Next I did my brows, I used Smashbox’s eyebrow crayon in Brunette – this is one of my favourite brow products, the slanted crayon is the perfect shape and consistency which makes it very easy to use.
For blusher I chose Smashbox’s Blush Rush in Chiffon. I love this colour, it is a peach shimmer colour and it compliments the peach shadow perfectly.
I used two different highlighters. For my cheeks I used MAC’s Pink buttercream and for a brow highlight I used Smashbox’s Fusion Soft Light.
Going back to finish my eyes, I used my transition shade which was number 3 in the Heat Wave Palette to create a smokey line on my lower lash line. Then, to create a darker line I went over it more precisely with shade 2 from the same palette. Blending is essential to make a lower lash line look nice and smokey.
I then applied a coat, or two,(or several!) of Full Exposure mascara.
For my lips, I wanted a very nude colour that would compliment the peach on my eyes. In my post about the Kelly and Sharon Osbourne MAC collection I mentioned the colour Riot House. It was too orange so I didn’t buy it but the very kind makeup artist in MAC gave me a sample of it. I used this colour and it completely washed out my lips, which is exactly what I was looking for. I like this lipstick but the oranges tones are too strong for it to be worn alone so I applied a Lola gloss over it. I picked up this gloss in Marks and Spencer, Liffey Valley, of all places. The the shade is 011. It is a very shimmery pink shade. It added a fab shimmer to my look and it neutralized the orange tones in Riot House.
And, voila, we’re done. A perfect peachy-bronzed look for summer. Give it a go!
