Coconut oil should be in everyone’s beauty regime. I can’t get enough of it! It’s super cheap, easy to find, smells amazing, and is 100% natural. Need I say more?
I could list hundreds of uses for coconut oil, I am finding new ones every day! Pinterest is a great resource for finding new uses for coconut oil and gives great recipes for it too.
The reason I bought coconut oil in the first place was for my hair. Years of peroxide blonde and poor quality extensions left my hair weak, frazzled, and parched. A friend suggested treating my hair with coconut and I haven’t looked back since. I bought mine in a health food shop but you can also pick it up in almost any super market.
I have relatively long hair which can get oily quite quickly, so what I do is take the coconut oil and rub it in my hands to warm it, I then spread it from the mid lengths of my hair to the very ends and I am very liberal with my application! Every now and again I will work the oil into my roots for a little treat, if you have dry hair I would recommend including your roots in your routine all the time. I leave the oil in my hair for as long as possible, usually over night, and then wash as normal. At first I was worried about getting the oil out of my hair but it washes out very easily with no greasy residue, just beautiful, silky soft, and shiny results. The smell is fantastic also. The oil is really nourishing and I quickly began to notice a difference in my hair; it was healthier looking, I had less breakage, the shine was fantastic, all the dullness was gone, and it seemed to be growing much faster.
Coconut oil can replace pretty much any moisturizer. Use it under your eyes, as a face/body moisturizer, use it on any dry patches, even use it as a lip balm. You can mix it with many other products to create your own personal range (again, Pinterest is brilliant for this). For example mix it with epsom salts and lavender essential oil for a body scrub, even mix it with bread soda, fine sea salt, and mint oil to create your own natural toothpaste! The options are endless. Cooking with coconut oil is much healthier than olive oil and it tastes fantastic!
A jar of coconut oil is a brilliant beauty product to have. It can replace so many expensive products. I wouldn’t be without it and my hair definitely agrees!
