I buy so many makeup products, it’s my addiction. I just can’t say no to fancy new products, promises, packaging etc. I have lipsticks and glosses galore, I have tried every shade of foundation/concealer/powder known to man, I have a serious problem when it comes to highlighters because I want them all, and don’t start me on eyeshadow.
We all know the rules when it comes to the shelf life of makeup. Eye shadows can last between a year and two years, although some people will tell you to toss them after three months. I believe that is a bit extreme, especially if you are careful with them and keep your application tools clean. Lip products will also last for between a year and two, and foundations and concealers will last six to twelve months once opened. Mascaras are definitely one product to be strict about, these need to be thrown out after three months. The most important thing to remember is; be vigilant, if you notice any change in the texture, smell, or colour of any of your products, lose them to be on the safe side!
So I keep makeup for as long as possible but I am constantly adding to my collection. I was soon flooded with products and had nowhere to keep them. I had all my products dispersed throughout various drawers and cabinets where I forgot all about them. There is nothing worse than coming across a beautiful lip gloss in an old drawer only to realise it has reached its shelf life.
I like to think I am a creative person, so I tried a number of different methods of organisation but I hated all of them. It was so difficult to keep all of my products together and have them in an easy to access area. Then I happened upon “Her Clutter Box”. As soon as I saw the product I fell in love with it, it was everything I was looking for; an elegant, pretty box with a number of drawers. The box is made from perspex, which is a clear acrylic allowing you to see inside the box without having to rummage!
The box comes in a number of varieties; four drawers, five drawers, six drawers, and the clutter box tower. They also sell grid dividers, for the drawers. As I said the boxes are clear but they come with pink, black, white, or purple trim, or no trim at all. The prices range from €239 for a six drawer box, €189 for the five drawer, and €169 for the four drawer. The tower is €155. The company has a sale on at the moment and there are great reductions in the cost, now would definitely be the time to consider purchasing so you can avail of the sale prices. Her Clutter Box is also an Irish company and the boxes are made in the Republic of Ireland
I bought the five drawer box and it is the greatest purchase I ever made. All of my products are stored together and it is very easy to see what I am looking for. The box holds so many products but is itself very neat and easy to store. The only downside is the box is very heavy, and obviously heavier when full so I won’t be moving mine around; it has its own home and there it will stay. I am so happy with my clutter box, and would definitely recommend it for the person who suffers with a makeup product addiction like myself!
